The US Department of Education (ED) provided clarification about the temporary federal aid pause. The department confirmed that no grants or loans would be paused or delayed. At this time, Relay’s Student Financial Services team continues to review all Direct loan and TEACH grant applications. The spring term disbursement is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2025. Connecticut Program Offerings

Relay Connecticut currently offers the following programs: 

 

Master of Arts in Teaching

Master of Arts in Teaching With or Without Certification

  • A 2-year Master of Arts in Teaching program leading to eligibility for a Connecticut Initial Educator Certificate. 

    • Relay Teaching Residency Pathway: 

      • The residency pathway supports aspiring teachers, offering a supportive gradual on-ramp into the profession.

      • In the first year, students serve as teaching residents, completing a year-long apprenticeship alongside a lead teacher. 

      • In the second year, students teach as a teacher of record (lead teacher) under a Resident Educator Certificate.

    • Non-Resident Pathway: 

      • This pathway is designed for students who will be the lead teacher in the first year of enrollment in the M.A.T. program. 

      • Students will serve as a teacher of record (lead teacher) under a Resident Educator Certificate for two years.  

      • Relay does not offer a non-residency pathway for students seeking elementary endorsement at this time.

    • Students who are not seeking certification in Connecticut may also enroll in the Master of Arts of Teaching through the resident or non-resident pathway as a degree-only student.

Master of Arts in Teaching with Licensure - Elementary Residents

Connecticut elementary teacher candidates who enter in AY 2025-2026 as teaching residents will enroll in a Colorado-based educator preparation program. After completing all Colorado EPP requirements, Relay will verify completion of the Colorado Traditional Teacher Licensure program, which students may use to apply for licensure outside of Colorado. States set requirements for certification/licensure, reciprocity, and equivalent certificates/endorsements, and will make all determinations related to issuing or denying applications for certification/licensure. Refer to Certification/Licensure Pathways to learn more about applying for certification/licensure outside of Colorado.

  • A 2-year, 32 credit, Master of Arts in Teaching program leading to eligibility for a Colorado Initial Teacher License. 

    • Relay Teaching Residency Pathway - Colorado Traditional Teacher Licensure Program

      • The residency pathway supports aspiring teachers, offering a supportive gradual on-ramp into the profession.

      • In the first year, students serve as teaching residents, completing a year-long apprenticeship alongside a lead teacher. 

      • After the first four terms and completing all EPP requirements, Relay will verify completion of the Colorado Traditional Teacher Licensure program, which students may use to apply for licensure outside of Colorado. 

      • In the second year, students teach as a teacher of record (lead teacher).

  • Students pursuing the Elementary Residency program who are not seeking licensure in Colorado may also enroll in the Master of Arts of Teaching through the resident pathway as a degree-only student via Connecticut (see above). 

 

Licensure Only

Colorado Traditional Teacher Licensure Program - Elementary Residents

  • A 4-term/23-credit non-degree program designed to prepare teacher candidates for licensure while serving as the teacher-in-residence in a PK-12 school. 

  • Prospective students must have completed a bachelor's degree and meet admissions requirements (see below) for the Traditional Teacher Licensure Program.

  • After completing all Colorado EPP requirements, Relay will verify completion of the Colorado Traditional Teacher Licensure program, which students may use to apply for licensure outside of Colorado.
