Relay students must demonstrate mastery of the knowledge and skills they have learned at Relay. In order to graduate from Relay and earn a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree or Advanced Certificate and/or successfully complete academic requirements for educator preparation program completion, students are required to:

  1. Successfully complete their Capstone [1];
    • MAT: Completion of a master’s defense, including analysis of and reflection on student learning and experience in their classrooms
    • MAT in Special Education and Advanced Certificate in Special Education: Completion of special education Capstone
  2. Earn a minimum grade of 70% (or a C-) in all courses in their program of study [2]; and
  3. Earn a cumulative 2.7 grade point average (GPA). Overall GPA is a weighted cumulative average of all course grades in the program to date.

Relay students seeking certification/licensure through their Relay program, whether a stand-alone alternative certification/licensure program or embedded within a MAT or advanced certificate program must meet all state- and/or program-specific requirements for program completion in addition to Relay’s requirements for successful completion of coursework in the EPP program of study. For additional information on state- and program-specific educator preparation program completion requirements not related to minimum grades or GPA, see Transition Point #3: Educator Preparation Program Completion for your program.
