To apply to Relay Graduate School of Education, you’ll need to submit official transcripts from every college or university you’ve attended—even if you didn’t earn a degree there. Below, we’ll walk you through what that means and how to submit them smoothly.
Official vs. Unofficial Transcripts
✅ Official Transcripts
An official transcript is one that:
-
Is sent electronically directly from your college, university, or a transcript clearinghouse, or
-
Is mailed in a sealed envelope (never opened) from you or a third party
❌ Unofficial Transcripts
A transcript is considered unofficial if:
-
It’s emailed or uploaded by you
-
It arrives in an envelope that has already been opened
-
It’s labeled “unofficial” by your institution
-
Unfortunately, unofficial transcripts cannot be accepted.
What Is a “Bachelor’s Degree–Conferred” Transcript?
To be fully admitted, Relay must receive an official transcript showing:
-
That you earned your bachelor’s degree, and
-
The date the degree was conferred
Still finishing your bachelor’s degree?
You may be conditionally admitted by submitting an official transcript showing your degree is in progress. Final admission is contingent on Relay receiving an official, degree-conferred transcript once you graduate. Please review our Provisional Admissions Policy for details and important deadlines. Important: If you are provisionally admitted, you must submit your official degree-conferred transcript before you can register for and attend classes.
How to Submit Official Transcripts
📧 Electronic Transcripts (Preferred)
If your institution offers electronic transcripts, this is the fastest option.

Must be from a U.S.-based institution
-
Must be sent by your school or a third-party service directly to [email protected]
-
Common platforms include:
-
National Student Clearinghouse
-
Parchment
-
Electronic transcripts typically appear as received on your admissions checklist within 3–5 business days.

Helpful Tips from the Admissions & Enrollment Team

If electronic transcripts are available, we recommend researching how to order them early.
-
If you haven’t graduated yet, you may:
-
Submit an official degree-in-progress transcript now to move your application forward, and
-
Submit your degree-conferred transcript after graduation to complete the process.

If you’re running into issues obtaining a transcript (such as a hold at a prior institution), contact the school directly—recent federal legislation may offer additional options.
