Pennsylvania Teacher Intern Certification Program
Single Endorsements: Grades Pre-Kindergarten - 4; Grades 4-8 (4-6, English Language Arts and Reading 7-8); Grades 4-8 (4-6, Mathematics 7-8); Grades 4-8 (4-6, Science 7-8); Grades 4-8 (4-6, Social Studies 7-8); English 7-12; Mathematics 7-12; Science - Biology 7-12; Science - Chemistry 7-12; Science - General Science 7-12; Science - Physics 7-12; Social Studies 7-12; Special Education PK-12
Dual Endorsement Option: Any of the above AND Special Education PK-12
Relay’s Pennsylvania Teacher Intern Certification Program is intended for students who have completed an undergraduate degree and want to seek teacher certification in Pennsylvania while teaching in a Pennsylvania school as a teacher of record or long-term substitute.
The Pennsylvania Teacher Intern Certification Program is offered as a non-degree program (18 credit hours/3 terms) or through enrollment in a corresponding Master of Arts in Teaching program:

Single endorsements in elementary or secondary general education are offered through enrollment in a corresponding MAT program (32 credits/6 terms).

Students seeking a dual endorsement with Special Education Teacher of Students with Disabilities must enroll in the MAT in Special Education (39 credits/6 terms).
Students complete aligned coursework and one (1) year of qualifying clinical experience as a teacher of record or long-term substitute in a Pennsylvania school while holding an Intern Certificate. Students’ teaching assignments must match their certificate area(s). Qualifying clinical experience typically occurs during the first year of enrollment. Clinical experiences are supervised by Relay faculty and a school-based clinical mentor. Academic plans detailing specific course requirements may be accessed on the Academic Plans site. Students are provided with a detailed course schedule at orientation.
Successful program completers who meet all necessary requirements for certification may apply for a Level 1 Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate. Pennsylvania Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program
Single Endorsements: Grades Pre-Kindergarten - 4; Grades 4-8 (4-6, English Language Arts and Reading 7-8); Grades 4-8 (4-6, Mathematics 7-8); Grades 4-8 (4-6, Science 7-8); Grades 4-8 (4-6, Social Studies 7-8); English 7-12; Mathematics 7-12; Science - Biology 7-12; Science - Chemistry 7-12; Science - General Science 7-12; Science - Physics 7-12; Social Studies 7-12; Special Education PK-12

The Pennsylvania Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program is intended for Relay Teaching Residents who have completed an undergraduate degree and want to seek teacher certification in Pennsylvania through a gradual on-ramp.
The Pennsylvania Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program is offered as a non-degree program (18 credits/3 terms) or through enrollment in a corresponding Master of Arts in Teaching program:

Students complete aligned coursework and qualifying clinical experiences, including 12 weeks of student teaching, in a non-lead teaching instructional role while under the supervision of Relay faculty and a school-based clinical mentor. The content area and grade level of the instructional role must match the student’s endorsement area for the first year in the program. Students may not work as teachers of record until they have completed the Pennsylvania Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program. Successful program completers who meet all necessary requirements for licensure may apply for a Level I Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate. Pennsylvania Additional Certification Program
Additional Endorsement: Special Education PK-12
The Pennsylvania Additional Certification Program is intended for educators who hold at least a bachelor’s degree and a valid Level I or Level II Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in a Content Area concentration.
The Pennsylvania Additional Certification Program is offered through the Advanced Certificate in Special Education (21 credits/3 terms).
Students complete aligned coursework and qualifying clinical experiences in a program-aligned instructional role while under the supervision of Relay faculty and a school-based clinical mentor. Clinical experience placements must match students’ intended endorsement area. Academic plans detailing specific course requirements may be accessed on the Academic Plans site. Successful program completers who meet all necessary requirements for the certificate may apply for their Level I Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Special Education PK–12.
