Introduction
New Student Orientation is a one‑hour virtual session designed to introduce you to the essential resources, tools, and support systems available at Relay. This session is your opportunity to connect with knowledgeable staff members and fellow students who share a passion for education.

During the session, you will: Learn how to navigate Relay’s academic and support resources

  • Gain an overview of key technology platforms and expectations

  • Explore the supportive community that will guide you throughout your program

  • Make connections that can enhance your experience as a Relay student

Additional Orientation Requirements

In addition to New Student Orientation, you may be required to attend other orientation sessions, such as:

If additional orientations are required, the appropriate teams will notify you via email. Be sure to check your inbox regularly.


Registration

To register for New Student Orientation:

  1. Log in to your Status Page

  2. Navigate to the Welcome to Relay Section

  3. Select New Student Orientation 

  4. Select a session that works best for your schedule

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to attend both New Student orientation and State-specific Orientation?
Yes. Each orientation covers different aspects of your Relay experience. Attending both New Student Orientation and any required State-Specific Orientation will help ensure your success. Multiple session options are available for flexibility.

How long are the orientations?
Each orientation session is one hour.

Who should attend?
All new, incoming students are strongly encouraged to attend to get the most out of their first term at Relay.

Should I attend New Student Orientation and State-Specific Orientation on different days?
Yes. Both session types are offered multiple times throughout the summer. You may choose the dates that best fit your schedule.

What are the technology requirements?
You will need:

  • A stable internet connection

  • A device with a camera and microphone

Will I be able to meet other new students?
Yes! There will be opportunities to interact and connect with other incoming students during the session.

What’s the difference between New Student Orientation and State-Specific Orientation?

  • New Student Orientation provides a broad introduction to Relay, including academic expectations, key resources, technology platforms, and support services available to all students.

  • State-Specific Orientation focuses on certification requirements, policies, and teaching expectations unique to your state and is led by state-based teams.

Who leads each orientation?

  • New Student Orientation is led by Student Affairs and Support Services.

  • State-Specific Orientation is led by state-based teams specializing in certification and licensure.

What happens if I don’t attend orientation?
Missing orientation may result in missed information critical to your academic and certification success. This could delay program completion or lead to administrative withdrawal.

What if I can’t attend a live session?
We offer multiple session dates. If you’re unable to attend live, visit the Resources section to access orientation guides, slides, and recordings.
