Relay was granted a charter by the New York State Board of Regents in 2011, becoming the first stand-alone graduate school of education to emerge in the state in more than eight decades.

Today, Relay is an accredited national nonprofit institution of higher education serving approximately 4000 teachers and 500 school leaders across the United States. Our offerings include master’s degrees and certification programs for teachers, teaching Residents, and school leaders, fellowships for principals and school leaders, unique opportunities for college students to explore teaching, and online courses for members of the public.
