The end of the academic year is fast approaching and you may be earning a pending education award (e.g. AmeriCorps education award, TFA education award).

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO RELEASE MY EDUCATION AWARD?

If you have tuition with a delayed due date due to the pending education award, the due date is Aug1. 

HOW DO I RELEASE MY SEGAL AMERICORPS EDUCATION AWARD?

Your AmeriCorps team will reach out to you once you have successfully completed your service year with additional steps. Their guidance will include when and how to gain access to your education award. Please remember to complete all required closeout paperwork shared with you in order to successfully close out from the program and receive your award.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY AWARD?

If you are a Relay AmeriCorps member, the AmeriCorps education award is typically awarded in June. 

• You must complete all closeout requirements
• More information will be provided in the AmeriCorps exit confirmation mailings sent in June
• Please check your student email for all AmeriCorps communications

WHAT CAN I USE MY AWARD FOR?

You may use your AmeriCorps education award toward prior education loans, educational expenses, tuition, or hold onto it for future educational use. Read more here.

If you have remaining tuition and would like an alternative to pay your balance, here are a few options:

• Click here to pay your bill. Check out instructions for doing so here. 
• Apply for federal financial aid (if eligible). You may request enough to cover your prior term balances and unpaid tuition. When you receive a credit refund, you may use it to pay balances in full. The deadline to complete all federal student aid forms is May 22, 2023.

UPCOMING COMMUNICATIONS

• April 14 : Newsletter and/or second reminder of unpaid tuition made payable with payment options
• April 17: Closeout requirement emails for Relay AmeriCorps members
• May 19: Financial aid offer letters sent for 2023-2024 school year
• May 23: Summer 2023 invoices sent if continuing into next academic year
• July 6: All unpaid tuition must be paid by this date to receive on-time proof of program completion
• August 1: All pending award / unpaid tuition must be paid by this date for Fall registration eligibility
