Transition Points (Read Transition Point 1 Thoroughly)

New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility (CE) Certification Program

Residents & Non-Residents

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from institution where completed baccalaureate or higher program OR cumulative undergraduate GPA below 3.0 but higher than or equal to 2.75 with graduation before 9/1/2016 or exceed the passing score on the approved content area exam that aligns with their certification area by at least 10% - exceptions via Program or Employer Sponsorship available on a first-come, first-served basis

  • Subject-specific requirements for their endorsement area via coursework - see here

  • Exam Requirements:

    • If applying via Limited CE, must submit qualifying scores on Basic Skills exam, Praxis Core, SAT, ACT, or GRE OR Master’s degree or higher with a minimum 3.0 GPA

    • Praxis II Content Exam aligned with endorsement area - see here

  • Documentation for the Physiology and Hygiene Requirement

  • Apply and Pay for the Certificate of Eligibility (CE) or Limited Certificate of Eligibility (Limited CE) in the Endorsement Area

Advanced Certificate in Special Ed

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from institution where completed baccalaureate or higher program OR cumulative undergraduate GPA below 3.0 but higher than or equal to 2.75 with graduation before 9/1/2016 or exceed the passing score on the approved content area exam that aligns with their certification area by at least 10%

  • Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or a Standard Certificate with a content area endorsement

As you work on meeting your EPP requirements, make sure to meet all of the necessary areas for either the CE or limited CE. Failure to do so could impact your ability to get licensed and result in additional expenses.
